Pedro López

Attorney at Law

Mr. López Onna is a product of the Puerto Rico public education system. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez, awarded Cum Laude in 1993. In 1996 he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. It is at the University of Puerto Rico that the interest in guaranteeing the rights of vulnerable communities is awakened, stading out in his service with the Legal Assistance Clinic of the Law School

Admitted to the practice of law by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico and to the First Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals in 1997, and to the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico in 2002.

Served as legal advisor to the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, being its Deputy Executive Director from 2015 to 2017. In addition, he served for many years as an independent lawyer handling cases of law and commercial litigation with an emphasis on small businesses.

In the immigration area, he has worked with cases related to family visas, DACA, TPS, as well as litigation of cases in the Immigration Court related to asylums, removal cancellations, adjustments of status and bonds, among others.

A self-confessed addict to reading, to trips with his family and Yankees fan.
