Vanessa Ruiz ​

Attorney at Law

Ms. Ruiz received her Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing from Baylor University. She received her Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2016. Ms. Ruiz is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Dallas Bar Association, and the Aggie Bar Association. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.Ms. Ruiz was born and raised in El Paso, Texas, a prominent Hispanic community just minutes from the Mexican border, where she became keen to the immigration issues surrounding Latinos. Ms. Ruiz aspired to attend law school and one day become a zealous advocate for the members of her community.

During her time at Baylor, she spearheaded an organization designed to recruit minority students to the university in order to increase diversity and promote cultural acceptance. In law school, Ms. Ruiz worked with various District Attorney’s offices where she frequently translated for Spanish-speaking crime victims and witnesses. She also sought to prevent injustices by participating in the Innocence Clinic where she reviewed cases of convicted persons who claimed they were wrongfully imprisoned.

One of the cases she worked on led to a vacated judgment and a wrongfully convicted man was released from prison after 20 years. Prior to joining Jaime Barron, P.C. Ms. Ruiz gained experience while working at other immigration law firms. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, taking her dogs to the dog park, and spending time with family and friends.
