Kelley Ortega is our managing attorney at our Washington, DC office. She is an attorney licensed by the State Bar of Texas. Mrs. Ortega has practiced immigration law exclusively throughout her a career as an attorney. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with Emphasis in International Relations from Texas Christian University and a Juris Doctorate from the College of Law at Loyola University New Orleans. While in college, Mrs. Ortega volunteered with Proyecto Inmigrante, assisting individuals seeking naturalization. During this time she also spent a semester in Washington, DC working with the American Council of Young Political Leaders and their projects with elected officials from the U.S. and around the globe. While she was in law school, Mrs. Ortega participated in Loyola’s Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice in the Criminal Defense section where she represented individuals in criminal matters and appeals. Mrs. Ortega is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
Mrs. Ortega has assisted clients with a complete range of family-based immigration matters including immigrant and non-immigrant visa petitions, naturalization, adjustment of status, consular processing, waivers of inadmissibility, U and V visas, TPS, SIJS, and VAWA petitions. She has also represented clients in complex removal proceedings before the immigration court. Mrs. Ortega has conducted many seminars and presentations to the local community in efforts to advise individuals of their rights and protections under the law. She has also worked closely with various local law enforcements agencies in presentations with the "UNIDOS" program to bridge the gap between the immigrant community and their local police departments.
Mrs. Ortega is frequently interviewed on various television networks such as Univision, Telemundo and CNN en Español to discuss and explain matters relating to immigration law. She also conducts a weekly radio program, “Pregúntale a los Abogados,” updating and informing the community on El Zol 107.9FM (Saturdays at 9:30am in the Washington DC area). Originally from Long Island, Kelley lived in Texas for many years before relocating back to the Washington DC metro area. She has strong ties to North Texas and the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Mrs. Ortega is dedicated to being a constant advocate for the local immigrant community.
She is of Salvadoran descent and is fluent in Spanish and English. An avid sports fan, Mrs. Ortega enjoys cheering on TCU football, running with her husband and practicing yoga in her spare time.
