Omar Ortiz Vélez

Omar Ortiz Vélez obtained his Juris Doctor from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. During his studies, he interned at the Legal Aid Clinic of the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico where he helped people of scarce resources obtain legal aid where he found a passion and devotion to helping those in need. As a licensed attorney Omar has focused on human rights for the majority of his career.

He became the Head of the Legal Division of the Women’s Advocate Office of Puerto Rico where he was fighting for equality of human rights in Puerto Rico. Since relocating to Texas, Omar has ben assisting immigrants before EOIR and USCIS. He has experience in assisting immigrants during Removal Proceedings and presenting relief before the court such as Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, among other forms of relief.

He has also successfully represented clients before USCIS for family-based petitions, naturalizations, adjustment of status, consular processing, waivers, U-Visas, VAWA, DACA, among others.

In his free time he likes to cook, eat (two servings if possible), play board games, watch sports, build gunpla, go to the movies, video games and most of all spend time with his family.
